Shaping The
Future Together: Making
Greener Choice

Sustainability Report PDF

There is no other world. We all have a responsibility, as individuals, institutions and societies, to use our resources most efficiently and avoid waste in all areas. We cannot neglect even a single link. The extinction of a single species jeopardizes the life of others while the destruction in the ecosystem threatens the entire world.

We are all responsible. We shape the future together. Both for ourselves and for all other living beings. For a sustainable future, we need to work together, hand in hand, closely, and transparently.

Reduce,
Reuse and
Recycle 3R

With the circular economy approach, we aim to reduce resource use and waste generation, recycle wastes as much as possible, and adopt longevity and durability as basic principles. We know recycling is a joint responsibility both on our part and on the part of consumers and the producers. We continuously improve ourselves and develop our products to make flexible and rigid packaging recyclable or reusable.

In order to contribute to a greener future, consumers need to make sustainable choices. Yet, it’s our responsibility to facilitate this choice as much as possible through the entire process. To remain in the value chain as part of the circular economy, the packaging offered to them needs to be properly sorted and recycled. We design our flexible packaging solutions observing CEFLEX, ISCC, FSC® C180723 sustainability directives and guidelines and comply with relevant regulations. Our commitment to a more sustainable future includes state-of-the art technology solutions that are recyclable and reduce raw material consumption, waste generation and carbon footprint creation. Integrated with the deposit management system we further contribute to recycling of single-use beverage packaging made of PET, metal, and glass.

Care for Reusing Instead of
Wasting

Aligned with our “reuse” approach, an important part of our sustainability efforts, we take care not to generate one-way packaging waste and make shipping with reusable plastic pallets and foldable crates in our Etapak facility.

We offer our
stakeholders a range of sustainable
options with our Etap bioplastic
product alternatives.

In response to customer demand, we have started to produce conical crates with 40% bio-based PP blend raw material, using bio-based plastics derived from renewable plant waste resources not used in the food chain.

Bio-based plastics are types of plastics produced from renewable resources. These plastics reduce dependence on fossil fuels and contribute to the utilization of agricultural waste.

We are also working on innovative
projects for the production of crates with PP mixed raw material containing rice husk.

We evaluate the principles of circular economy in every product we produce in our Etap Enjeksiyon Plastik factory and set every possible solution as our goal.

CARING FOR THE FUTURE

Our Promise to Future Generations

Our subsidiaries Etapak Ambalaj and Etap Enjeksiyon Plastik are
both members of UN Global Compact Türkiye, which has completed
the association process and facilitates the mobilization of the business
community for responsible practices in line with the 10 principles of the
UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals.

We are pleased to be a member of the local network of the UN Global
Compact in Türkiye, which was established as the Global Compact Signatories Association. We consider it important and a priority to contribute to the uninterrupted pursuit
of sustainability in our country. We emphasize cooperation with the business community at
this point. Our company is one of the pioneers of the association in the plastic injection sector.

We Reduce the Use of Resources

Managed Reduction in
Our Water Consumption!

Although the amount of water we use in production at our Etapak Ambalaj and Etap Enjeksiyon Plastik factories is very minimal, we managed to use 10,956 tons less water in 2023 compared to 2022 just by focusing on conservation and eliminating leaks. These savings, which we achieved with the measures we took without any additional investments, are equivalent to the domestic consumption of approximately 300 people in a year. Efficiency is one of the top priorities that we focus on in every operation.

We Use Renewable
Energy Sources

We have taken an important step towards reducing our carbon footprint by sourcing 100% of the energy we use in our Etap Enjeksiyon Plastik factory and 450 MWh in our Etapak Ambalaj factory from I-REC renewable energy in 2023. We are continuing our efforts in this direction without slowing down. Ensuring that our products are produced with green energy gives us a good start in our journey. We have many more steps to take in terms of sustainable green energy supply. Our goal is to significantly reduce our dependence on fossil fuels by installing solar panels on the roof of our factory.

Implementing Zero
Waste Approach

With the Zero Waste Management we have initiated in our Etapak Ambalaj and Etap Enjeksiyon Plastik factories, we conduct more effective waste management and ensure that all our wastes are recycled back into the economy. We implement comprehensive processes and procedures to prevent waste at its source, reduce operational waste, sort, recover and reuse it as a valuable resource wherever possible.

Reducing Carbon Footprint, Reducing Impact on Nature

Our goal is to better manage the entire process, from the type of raw materials, energy sources and sustainable supplier selection to the emissions of the products sent to our customers, without harming the environment and human health. The controlled use of plastics and chemicals in our operations and the reduction of general production waste is an awareness and culture that we keep alive in our agenda. We constantly strive to promote environmental awareness among all our employees, suppliers and customers about the extraordinary importance of waste reduction and recycling for our world. We know that we owe it to future generations to leave them a world worth living in.

Production
Solvent Recovery

Thanks to our Solvent Recovery Unit (SRU) we have been recovering the solvent we use in production since 2022. Our efforts to improve the performance of SRU continue under the leadership of our maintenance team. Our aim is not only to reduce our impact on nature by recovering the amount of solvent released into the atmosphere, but also to reduce our footprint in every area via the minimum use of resources. Compared to 2022, we achieved a 20% improvement in electricity, 18% in water and 16% in natural gas for 1 kg of solvent recovered in 2023.
